MEET ALYSSA
Hello and welcome!
I am so happy you are here! My name is Alyssa Fishman Masterson.
My mission is to guide, share and inspire others on their path in this life. I lead individuals into a state of self-empowerment, finding glimmers of peace in the chaos, and help to provide resources to create resilence + regulate their nervous system into a state of balance. I strive to support individuals in experiencing meaningful changes in their lives.
I am a C-IAYT certified Yoga Therapist, RYT 500hr and Reiki II certifed. I have BA in Communication, with a concentration in Art Therapy from Marymount Manhattan College. I completed my 200hr Living Yoga Teacher Training with Breathing Room Yoga Center of New Haven in 2017. I went on to continue my studies with Inner Peace Yoga Therapy School, based in Colorado and completed my 300hr Foundations in Yoga Therapy training in 2019. I then continued on the path to becoming a certified Yoga Therapist in December 2023.
I am a deeply curious life learner. I can't help but go down a rabbit hole to get to the depths of my interests. My newest pursuit has been studying Thai yoga massage. I recently completed an Intro to Thai Massage workshop in October 2024 with Cynthia Jones and I look forward to applying these practices and continuing to learn more about the ancient tradition.
A brief background story as to what led me to this path is my strong passion for helping others gain power in health and wellness. I was an active athlete growing up, captain of my soccer and softball teams, I did a little dance and gymnastics and anything my two older brothers would include me in. I also love to cook, draw, create and be in nature. At the age of 8 I began to suffer from migraines . As I grew older I attributed these to life stressors and poor coping skills.. I got to a point where I decided to change my lifestyle and learn about health and well-being as much as possible. I needed to change things, change how I responded and how I managed myself. I started with small shifts gradually; drank more water, improved my sleep hygiene, conscious to what food + information I put in my body, added more mindfulness practices, gratitude and movements, and so on...I can confidently say that I have a greater awareness of what my triggers are and am able to navigate life better due to preventing an attack. My quality of life has improved tremendously and I have my yoga practices to thank for helping to keep me in balance.
My teaching style has shifted over the years and will continue to evolve as I continue to develop my practice and pursue my studies. I teach a wide age range and am mindful of making these practices assessible to all beings. My style is invitational and supportive as I guide you in exploring multiple layers of their being, also known as the koshas. Through yogic practices that cultivate embodiment, connection, & expansion, I strive to empower you on your wellness journey.
You are divinely unique and my intention is for our time together to be a transformative experience. It would be a privilege and pleasure to work with you and to create a safe space that supports you as you uncover and alchemically transform body and mind. I will facilitate your exploration with discipline and heart, meeting you where you are and as you are, a WHOLEsome being.
